One of the iterations of the Dark Crystal feature/cinematic sequel, to have been directed by Michael Gracey.
One of the most fun jobs I've ever had, obviously too good to be true. I tried to channel my inner Brian Froud, and it was awesome getting to meet him if only over Skype. There were I think four or five 'versions' of the film with different creative teams. But I think it kept coming back to one script issue (which was unchanged in the comic version) with the Skeksis that I don't think even non-fans would have bought.
Anyway here are the Skeksis fighting unfairly of course/in character, using the three suns to blind their opponents. We restored the initial conception of the Skeksis and Mystics' duality and therefore the two sets of hands. Which couldn't be done in the first film as two people couldn't fit into the Skeksis suits. It was a pet thing of mine! Finally, I knew it would be PG so incorporated 'blood' dripping from the sword down the arms as a costume design solution.
