(Non-gruesome) Shaw study. On Covenant the drawings/studies of flora, fauna, anatomy and finally the grizzly fate (or fates) of Elizabeth Shaw basically fell to two people, Dane Hallett and myself. Under the direction of Ridley Scott, Production designer Chris Seagers, and especially Set Decorator Victor Zolfo.
There were three main sets and we mostly collaborated on the first (David's Quarters), and then for the majority (there was crossover) we split up to tackle the huge Lab set (Dane's province) and the Scrollroom/Fate of Elizabeth Shaw (mine). As the story was more literal and plot-based I wanted to inject some of the thematic stuff and ambiguity back in and David's unreliable narrator was a great vehicle for that. Generally Shaw is depicted so that she might be dead, she might be alive, she could have been rebuilt and revived who knows how many times at David's hand.
